OF KETOACIDOSIS WITH LACTIC ACIDOSIS AND VERNICE SYNDROME. A CLINICAL CASE

Abstract

Background. The purpose of the work is to emphasize the importance of timely diagnosis of diabetes mellitus in pregnant women to prevent such serious complications as ketoacidosis, lactic acidosis, Vernice syndrome.
Materials and methods. Retrospective analysis of anamnestic data, course of the disease, laboratory and instrumental studies and treatment at the time of hospitalization of the patient was carried out.
Results. A pregnant woman at 12 weeks was not diagnosed with gestational diabetes in a timely manner. Continuing nausea and vomiting led to the manifestation of diabetes mellitus, the development of acute metabolic complications such as ketoacidotic precoma with hyperlactacidemia and Vernice syndrome at 15 weeks of gestation. The pulse of glucocorticoids therapy was saved the mother and child life.
Сonclusion. The example of this patient shows the importance of compensating diabetes during pregnancy to prevent the development of acute serious complications that threaten the life of the mother and fetus.
